Hello Janney Families,
It's almost August, and as the start of school rapidly approaches, we'd like to update you on what's going on at Janney.
First and foremost, everyone needs to register for school! Even if you are returning to Janney, you need to re-register your child each year. Please visit the Janney office in person any weekday between 8 am and 4:30 pm to complete an enrollment form, establish proof of DC residency, and turn in medical and dental forms (required for students entering PreK, K, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades). Please register as soon as possible so the Janney office can plan appropriately for the coming year.
In the meantime, watch for your Janney Summer Mailing to arrive during the first week of August. With help from the terrific folks in the Janney office, we have put together a packet filled with important information on getting ready for school. We hope you will find it helpful as you plan in the coming weeks!

In a great showing of community involvement, Turner Construction and Tishman Speyer Construction have adopted Janney as part of Mayor Fenty's initiative to engage businesses to support our school community. On Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 2, volunteers from both construction firms and their partners will be working both inside and outside to complete various projects. The work will include painting, electrical, and landscaping projects. We certainly appreciate their commitment. Janney families can do our part by participating in the Janney Spruce Up Day on Saturday, August 23rd from 8 am until 1 pm.
Last of all (though certainly not last on anyone's mind!), the search for a new Janney principal continues: the Principal Selection Panel will be interviewing additional candidates for the position this week, and we hope to have an update for you in the very near future.
