Picture Retake Day
Take Two: Picture Retake Day at Janney is tomorrow December 7
If you ordered school photos, you may be admiring the portrait that represents the most beautiful person on the planet, your child. Or, possibly, you are not impressed. Maybe the photo would not enhance your progeny's chance to win the "most gorgeous elementary school student" contest. Are you wondering if this is a photo of the person who lives in your house and eats your food? Or it seems your child thinks it's still Halloween, complete with a haunted look. Maybe your child wasn't at Picture Day (only signed and notarized excuses accepted). If this was the case, mark Wednesday, December 7 on your calendar for Picture Retake Day!
If you would like your child's picture taken on Retake day December 7, email Amy Morrill Bijeau at morrillbijeau@yahoo.com. *****If you are having your child's picture retaken, you must return your unsatisfactory package (*minus the class picture*) to the classroom teacher before Retake day.***** There is no charge for the retake when you return the less-than-desirable individual photo.
If this is your child's first photo (and/or if you have not completed an order form), make sure you complete an order form with payment for the photo package that you would like. The order forms are in the Janney front office. Also, you can order photos if you contact Lifetouch here: www.lifetouch.com
If you have any questions, please contact us. Thank you!

| Soup Kitchen News
Thanks to everyone for the great food for the dinner for Homeless women at Thrive DC last month. It was truly enjoyed! If you haven't already signed up to bring food for our once a month donation and are still interested the sign up poster is still in the main hall, please sign up when you can. We could really use more people to make lasagnas and bring other foods as listed on the sign up poster. Food for the next meal we will provide is needed on Tuesday, Dec.13, and if you haven't already gotten a call and would like to help please call Camille Martone at 362-7555 or Jennie Bonney at 537-0333.
Also - thanks so much to the notebuster families for the donations of hats, gloves, and scarves for Thrive DC. They really appreciated it and many more people will stay warm this winter because of your generosity.

Thanks so much!

Holiday Gifts for DC Foster Kids
Last year Janney partnered with Northwest Sport & Health and DC Child and Family Services and collected over 400 holiday gifts for local foster kids. There are over 2,000 foster kids in our city that might not otherwise receive holiday gifts so we are participating once again. We hope to double last year's number of gifts and spread holiday cheer to more children. Donations of NEW toys, books, and clothing are welcome and can be dropped off in the blue collection bins that will be located across from the security desk now through December 9th.
The following items are especially welcome:
crib toys activity blankets, tub toys soft books blocks Legos push/pull toys dolls (African American) trucks and cars crayons and markers arts & crafts kits balls VHS and DVD movies workbooks bath & body gift sets hat and scarf sets jewelry purses watches team logo baseball and winter caps team logo t-shirts and sweatshirts (size XL, and XXL)
